Dive Solutions

Our commercial divers go to the seabed to perform the delicate maneuvers required to put together, maintain, and disassemble offshore wells, rigs, and pipelines, everything from flipping flow valves, to tightening bolts with hydraulic jacks, to working in tight confines around a blowout preventer, becaause none of the remotely operated vehicles have the touch, maneuverability, or human judgment for the job. At this moment, all around the world, one of our commercial divers living at pressure inside saturation systems is doing one of these jobs, with all the ultra modern safety systems.

Marine Safety Solutions

We are primarily focusing on Maritime Security and Counter-Piracy Services, Armed and Unarmed Maritime Security, and the Security of Ports and Strategic Waterways. Given the growing problem of maritime piracy, particularly off the coast of Somalia, the Gulf of Aden, and the Indian Ocean, we are developing this new directory. We also intend to incorporate here companies focusing on the offering of assistance with the implementation of the ISPS Code as well as those securing domestic ports and waterways prone to terorists and other political and economic disturbances..

In the present commercial market for LNG, bulk and offshore vessels, laying up of the vessel may be a prudent decision by owners to reduce operating costs and await better market conditions. When vessel operational costs are equal or higher to vessel earnings, sending a vessel to lay-up can save owners a considerable amount of money in the medium to long term.

For the last 4 years K-Ship Management has provided engineers and technical support to Safe Haven Maritime, a lay-up provider of ships in Batam Indonesia.

Safe Haven Maritime is a Singapore company actively engaged in Indonesian shipping activities with a major interest in providing lay-up services for owners who decide to lay up their ships.

Batam along with Labuan are some of the better known and professional lay-up sites in South East Asia. Safe Haven offers owners different options of lay- up. With Hot” lay-up, at least some of the ships’ crew remain on board, and the ship can resume her trade within days.

Cold’ lay-up is preferred if a vessel is scheduled to be removed from trade for a longer period of time (more than 6 months).

At present, K-assists Safe Haven in the preservation work on (4 large LNG tankers at their lay-up location on the South East side of Batam Island, close to the busy shipping lanes of Singapore Strait.

K-gets involved with the cold” lay-up vessels, where K-provides an engineer to live on board and perform daily maintenance routines according to the owner’s specifications and under the direction of Timur’s technical superintendent based in Batam. With such planned routine maintenance, K-ensures that the various machineries and electronics are preserved and are ready to be reactivated when the owner decides to reactivate the vessel. Older LNG vessels often end up as conversion objects and are rebuilt or modified to be used as Floating Regasification Unit (FRU’s) or Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU’s).

Safe Haven and K-are actively marketing Batam as an ideal site to lay up vessels. The lay-up site in Batam can be reached by a short ferry ride from Singapore, and an inspection of the laid up vessels can be done within a day for any owner or inspector that wants to inspect the vessel. As most conversions are done by the bigger Singapore dockyards, there is also no time lost and costs of moving vessels to Singapore by tug is very convenient both timewise and in economic terms.

Batam is also very close to the general shipping lanes, so little time is lost for any vessel which is reactivated for continuous trading.

While Labuan has been the previous choice as a lay-up site in the area, Batam seems to be gaining ground as a competitive area, due to its superb location and safe anchorage away from the typhoon belt, just 1 degree north of Equator.
